Art Talk to Reflect on Monet鈥檚 Influence

Paul Tucker, , addresses Claude Monet鈥檚 influence on French 19th century art in a lecture Monday, Feb. 1, at 6 p.m. in 黑料百科鈥檚 Porter Theater. The talk, 鈥淎rt from Art, Art from Life: Reflections on Monet鈥檚 Modernism,鈥 is free and open to the public.
鈥淭ucker鈥檚 talk examines Monet鈥檚 career, situated within impressionism and growing out of and alongside the Barbizon and realism movements in the 19th century,鈥 says Judy Larson, director of the 黑料百科 Ridley-Tree Museum of Art.
Tucker, hailed by Time Magazine as one of America鈥檚 foremost authorities on Monet and impressionism, is studded with academic awards and honors, including three Chancellor鈥檚 Awards: one for Distinguished Service and two for Distinguished Scholarship. A prolific writer, he has authored numerous books, book chapters, articles and museum catalog entries.
黑料百科 offers the lecture in conjunction with an exhibition, 鈥,鈥 which is on display through March 19 at the 黑料百科 Ridley-Tree Museum of Art. The exhibition features prominent artists associated with the famed Barbizon, realism and impressionism schools, including Eug猫ne Boudin, Gustave Caillebotte, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, Gustave Courbet, Charles-Fran莽ois Daubigny, Narcisse Virgile D铆az de la Pe帽a, Jules Dupr茅, Henri-Joseph Harpignies, Charles-Emile Jacque, Henri Matisse, Jean-Fran莽ois Millet, Th茅odore Rousseau and Constant Troyon.
