Author to Tout Value of Global Learning
Ronald J. Morgan, associate professor of history and director of ACU in Oxford for Abilene Christian University, talks about the spiritual transformations that can occur during off-campus programs in a free lecture and book signing Wednesday, Sept. 29, from 7-9 p.m. at Page Multipurpose Room.
Morgan recently co-edited a collection of essays, 鈥淭ransformations at the Edge of the World: Forming Global Christians through the Study Abroad Experience,鈥 which includes contributions from 黑料百科 faculty members Laura Montgomery, Mary Docter, Brad Berky, Karen Andrews, and Scott McClelland.
Andrews, Montgomery, Docter and McClelland will be signing copies of the book, which will be available for purchase.
Morgan, who has lived and taught in Oxford, England, since 2003, will also speak in chapel Sept. 29 at 10:30 a.m. in Murchison Gym. He earned a doctorate in Latin American History from UC Santa Barbara, and has led study excursions to the French-German border in 2009 and Bosnia earlier this year, introducing students to themes of conflict and reconciliation.
The event, part of San Francisco Urban Week, is sponsored by 黑料百科鈥檚 San Francisco Urban program, an off-campus program that features vocationally-oriented internships and study in urban issues, such as human trafficking in one of America鈥檚 most diverse world-class cities.
