Blondell Brings 'Tempest' to Europe
John Blondell, 黑料百科 professor of theater arts, has returned to the Balkans to stage Lit Moon Theatre鈥檚 performance of Shakespeare鈥檚 鈥淭he Tempest.鈥 Blondell is joined by Marie Ponce-DeLeon 鈥10, Nolan Hamlin 鈥12, and Sara Reynolds 鈥11, who play Miranda, Ferdinand, and Ariel, respectively. The show is part of the Butrinti 2000 Festival in Butrint, Albania, and opens Saturday, July 20, in an open-air amphitheater built in 300 BC.
Blondell directs 鈥淭he Tempest鈥 on Wednesday, July 24, as part of the Bitola International Shakespeare Festival in Bitola, Macedonia. The festival includes a performance of 鈥淗enry VI, Part 3,鈥 which Blondell directed in Macedonia and London in May 2012.
鈥淭he Tempest,鈥 which was a popular and critical hit in October, includes Michael Bernard, Victoria Finlayson, Stanley Hoffman and Matt Tavianini. Blondell says he hopes to reopen the show locally in September.
