The ���ϰٿ� Orchestra’s annual Concerto Concert, which highlights student soloists, is Thursday, April 28, at 7 p.m. in Page Multipurpose Room at ���ϰٿ� and Friday, April 29, at 7 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church. General admission is $10; all students are free. Tickets can be purchased at the door or reserved by calling (805) 565-6040.

“It is an exciting showcase of some of the finest solo artists in the music program with sparkling virtuosity and charming lyricism on display,” says Michael Shasberger, ���ϰٿ� Adams professor of music and orchestra conductor. “It is the final concert on our 2015-2016 season and promises to be an exciting conclusion to a beautiful year.”

The soloists include pianist Kennedy Hahn, flutist Jessica Kozachuk, soprano Meredith Mueller, violist Samantha Wilson and pianist Aaron Wilk. Wilk, who graduates this year with a 4.0 GPA as a triple major in biology, chemistry and music, begins M.D./Ph.D programs at Stanford in the fall.

Wilk will perform Beethoven’s “Rondo” for Orchestra and Piano. Hahn solos on Camille Saint Saens’ Piano Concerto Movement No. 2 Finale presto. Kozachuk is featured in Gabriel Faure’s “Fantasie” for Flute and Chamber Orchestra. Mueller sings in Giacomo Meyerbeer’s “Nobles Seigneurs Salut!” from “Les Huguenots.” Wilson is the featured soloist in William Walton’s Concerto for Viola and Orchestra movement No. 2 “Vivo, e molto preciso.”

Other pieces include “Ten Commandments” by Elmer Bernstein (from the 1956 movie with Charlton Heston), “Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun” by Claude Debussy and “Amazing Grace” arranged by Dan Goeller.
