Talk Explores Sustainable Agriculture

James Rogers, founder and CEO of Apeel Sciences, lectures about 鈥淩ecycling Nature鈥檚 Intelligent Design鈥 Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 3:30 p.m. at Founders Room in the 黑料百科 Kerr Student Center. Apeel Sciences, a Santa Barbara-based business, helps provide new organic technology solutions for sustainable agriculture. 鈥淭hey鈥檙e doing groundbreaking work to produce a product that mimics Mother Nature to reduce food spoilage,鈥 says Michelle Aronson, 黑料百科鈥檚 sustainability and marketing coordinator. 鈥淛ames and his team combine the wonders of science with a deep understanding of the economics of agriculture.鈥
James, a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, earned a master鈥檚 and doctorate from UC Santa Barbara. His doctoral research won the 2012 Frank K. Padden Jr. Award for polymer physics, the premier polymer physics prize in the United States.
The Sustainability Speaker Series continues with Jay Ruskey of Good Land Organics speaking about 鈥淥rganic Growing Practices and California Coffee鈥 on Feb. 23 at 3:30 p.m. in Founders Room.
