Peter Enns, senior fellow of biblical studies at the BioLogos Forum, speaks about the intersection of science and faith in a lecture, “Paul, Adam and Evolution,” Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 5 p.m. at the Darling Foundation Lecture Hall in ���ϰٿ�’s Winter Hall (Room 210). The Erasmus Society lecture is free and open to the public.

Enns, an evangelical Christian scholar and author of several books and commentaries, will argue that the science of evolution is not at odds with Genesis or St. Paul’s use of Genesis.

Enns graduated from Messiah College, earned a master of divinity degree from Westminster Theological Seminary, and a master’s degree and doctorate from Harvard University. Enns was formerly a professor of Old Testament and hermeneutics at Westminster, where he wrote the popular “Inspiration and Incarnation: Evangelicals and the Problem of the Old Testament.”

Enns is a former student of Tremper Longman III, ���ϰٿ�’s Robert Gundry professor in biblical studies. The two have collaborated on several projects, including the Baker Illustrated Bible Dictionary, which nears completion.

“Peter Enns is one of the most important Old Testament scholars alive today, particularly in the area of the relationship between biblical interpretation and science,” Longman says.

BioLogos, based in San Diego, is led by a group of Christians promoting a perspective on the origins of life that’s both theologically and scientifically sound. It addresses the central themes of science and religion, emphasizing the compatibility of Christian faith with scientific discoveries about the origins of the universe and life.
